Green Pods The best 11 iced coffee recipes you can make at home with your nespresso machine

From the Author: In this article, I wanted to do a round-up of 11 of my favorite Nespresso iced coffee recipes I’ve tried throughout the years. These recipes you can read in more detail on our recipes section, but I have tried to give a high-level overview here. Enjoy!

Why Listen To Us? Well, because we KNOW coffee! In fact, we make our own coffee, coffee machine cleaners, and reusable capsules which we've sold to over 41 countries. Our team ouf experts include Tristan (an engineer), Claire (a food writer) and Richy (a barista). So, whether you're looking for a recipe or repair guide, we've got you covered 💚

The Almond Vanilla Iced Latte

This one is a summer crowd-pleaser that couldn’t be simpler to make. It’s the recipe my family used to make with instant coffee but switch that out for a shot of espresso and things really level up. If your machine has a built-in frother then I’d also recommend you whip up some froth to top things off.

This recipe is all about volume and you’ll get a cup of cold creamy sweetness you can chug away at in the depths of a hot, sunny day. We use an extra-long shot of espresso (or lungo) and a big glass full of cold milk. Add a little sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon and you’ve got a cafe-quality iced coffee at home in less than five minutes!

The capsule: We picked the Nespresso Vanilla Éclair from the barista creations range for this iced coffee. This capsule has an extra hit of vanilla and a little sweetness which compliments the almond milk to give a rich creamy vanilla taste.

Time to make: 5 minutes

Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 Nespresso Vanilla Éclair
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (we use a good quality vanilla extract like this one which makes a big difference)
  • Cinnamon to finish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the coffee by extracting a lungo pour from your Vanilla Éclair capsule. If you don’t have the Vanilla Éclair, we recommend using a sweeter, more aromatic coffee blend so you don’t bring out too much bitterness.

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and add the almond milk.

Stir in the vanilla and sugar until completely dissolved.

Pour the fresh coffee over the top.

Top with a dusting of cinnamon

Hot tip: drop in a spoonful of vanilla ice-cream to increase the taste and increase the calories!

Enjoy!!

The Iced Macchiato

In Italian, latte macchiato means spotted milk. Normally, the hot milk and creamy milk foam are imbued with the delicious flavor of coffee for a spectacular, sumptuous result.

However, in this cold-take, we’ve figured out how to replicate the delicate milk foam in a cold coffee creation. This will delight all coffee lovers and surprise people with a new take on iced coffee!

Time to make: 3 minutes

Servings: 1

Ingredients:

A bold espresso capsule such as the Nespresso Arpeggio

50-100 ml cold low-fat milk

A teaspoon of Sugar

A Nespresso Aeroccino milk frother (or hand wand)

Instructions:

Prepare the coffee by extracting an espresso pour from your Nespresso capsule.

We now need to cool this down so either pop in the fridge, or drop in a couple of ice cubes if you’re in a rush.

Next, make the cold milk foam

This is the secret to this recipe. Cold foam is a little tricky to get right, and the secret is to use low-fat or skim milk. This may seem counterintuitive, but it’s much easier to foam low-fat milk when cold than full-fat milk!

Also note: we use sugar in this recipe which again makes the milk easier to foam and holds its air bubbles in (kind of like a meringue) but you can omit the sugar and still get great results!

Add the milk and sugar into your Aeroccino milk frother and use the cold foam button to perfectly whisk your milk. If you’re using a hand whisk or milkshake maker wand then you’ll need to judge the done-ness by eye.

Pour the milk on top of the espresso. Then use a spoon to mark the center of the foam with a little drop of coffee! perfecto!!

Iced macchiato

The Starbucks Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino

This is our homemade version of Starbucks’ Choc Chip Frappuccino, a decadent iced coffee that spikes your energy levels.

Let’s face it, Starbucks drinks are delicious, but work out to be pretty pricey. I got hooked back during my uni days and found myself making the trip to pick up a frappe after a tough day of classes. As the addiction got worse, and the hole in my pocket grew bigger, I knew it was time to learn how to make my favorite Starbucks beverage at home.

This recipe ticks all the boxes. I’ve used a double shot of Starbucks Nespresso here because I like it strong (and to stick with the theme) but you can omit the coffee altogether if it tastes just as good. I recommend a strong dark coffee for this so the flavour really carries through.

Time to make: 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups crushed ice
  • Espresso (2x Nespresso pods or 1x Caffitaly pod)
  • ¾ cup full cream milk (you can substitute for your preferred milk)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (more or less depending on your taste)
  • ⅓ cup mini chocolate chips
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp chocolate syrup, I use Hershey’s

Topping

  • More chocolate syrup
  • More mini chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

In a blender, combine all the ingredients except the whipped cream for 30-45 seconds.

Pour into a tall glass and top off with whipped cream, drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle choc chips over. Best served with a spoon and a straw.

Peppermint Marshmallow Latte

You can make this delicious Peppermint Marshmallow Latte to keep you warm this winter. This sweet and smooth coffee drink adds a creamy touch to its taste to bring out the peppermint flavoring. Consider the peppermint whipped cream a bonus recipe. If you can’t find peppermint whipped cream in the stores, you can make it yourself. This also tastes great as a topper for hot chocolate. The peppermint creamer you make will provide enough for multiple drinks. Although it will turn a little gummy when stored in the fridge, if you heat it for a few minutes at a very low temperature, you can smooth it out again. Always stir the creamer before serving it.

This amount of whipped cream makes enough for about 4 servings of peppermint latte.

  • Peppermint extract
  • Espresso capsule
  • Peppermint Marshmallow Creamer

Pour the coffee into a tall glass.

Pour Peppermint Marshmallow Creamer into the coffee.

Top your drink using regular whipped cream or Peppermint Whipped Cream.

Scatter bits of crushed candy cane on top.

Garnish with a candy cane stir stick.

Allow the candy cane to dissolve before adding marshmallows.

Idea: You can also make this as an alcoholic drink by adding a splash of Creme de Menthe and whisky.
