Coffee Intensity vs Caffeine Content
This may come as a shocker, but coffee intensity and caffeine content are different. Coffee intensity is determined by the coffee’s degree of roasting, body, and bitterness. On the other hand, caffeine content refers to the amount of caffeine found in a specific coffee shot.
So what does the coffee intensity scale mean? Here’s a simple table to help you understand what a certain figure concerning your coffee’s intensity means.
1 – 5 | Low-Intensity | Light Bodied | Expect delicate flavors, thin consistency, and little residue on the tongue |
6–9 | Medium Intensity | Medium Bodied | Expect richness in flavors and a well-balanced mix of aroma, acidity, and taste. No element overpowers the other |
10–13 | High-Intensity | Full Bodied | Expect generous aromas and creamy texture left in the mouth |
The Different Ranges Of Lavazza Coffee Pods
Becoming the no.1 coffee company and producer in Italy does not come without great innovations. After sourcing its coffee from Indonesia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Uganda, Mexico, and Brazil, Lavazza production industries work to release the 3 ranges below:
Lavazza Blue
The Lavazza Blue range is marketed as the brand’s coffee pods most suitable for office use — this is the only range with varieties available as double shots. The Lavazza Blue capsules feature a Lavazza Blue logo, come in a variety of about 10 blends, and are only compatible with the Lavazza Blue coffee machines.
Lavazza Espresso Point (EP)
The Lavazza Espresso range is widely known for its compatibility with Nespresso® Original coffee machines. The over 6 varieties of capsules in this range are available in 2 sizes, the Espresso Point size and the Espresso Point Maxi, which are bigger.
Lavazza A Modo Mio
The A Modo Mio range represents Lavazza’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability. This range is the latest of their innovation and is made of single-use compostable capsules. These compostable pods made from sugarcane and cornstarch go into either your food waste or compost heap where they will break down in a matter of months.
The Lavazza A Modo Mio range has about 8 varieties that are compatible with all Lavazza A Modo Mio coffee machines.
How Much Caffeine Is In A Lavazza Coffee Pod?
This information is really hard to find, and to be honest, we’re quite annoyed it’s not simply written on the back of the packet. So, we reached out to Lavazza to get them to tell us the caffeine content of each product.
Lavazza advised us that due to the capsules not being routinely tested, and manufacturing differences, they can only provide an estimate that each pod contains between 40-75mg of caffeine.
Unfortunately, Lavazza has not made the exact caffeine amount per coffee pod public; hence we can only rely on an estimate for all their coffee pods. The caffeine content is dependent on the coffee variety and how the capsule is prepared.
That said, we can assure you that consuming 40-75mg of caffeine is quite okay — up to 400mg of caffeine per day is considered safe.
