The media could not be loaded.
 This has so far been a game changer over the hand crank of a stovetop popcorn popper. Ignore the instructions. You wont even get a good first crack and the beans will taste green and dull your grinder. Use the 240 or max temp, fully preheat and depending of course on the bean, start at ~15 minutes. If you are doing less than a pound, you will need to tilt the back of it up between 1/2 to 1 inch with the rotation cut bar at 2 o'clock-ish. Otherwise the beans will not rotate; they will just slide along with the spinners. I think thats everything... oh when they look like they are close to done through the lid, but not quite, they are done. The moisture and debris on the lid makes them look a little lighter than they are. Speaking of moisture, i crack the back side of the lid up for a second at 5 minutes to let some moisture out, but i have no idea if it helps, i just do it cause it bugs me. :) OK really, thats all.

First off, it's a shallow crock pot with a metal arm that rotates. It should be $40.

Second off, there is no chance on Earth you will roast good beans if you put 750G in there. It's absolutely ridiculous. Trying 400G, MAX.

Third, Chaff is a big problem- use this outside!!

Tips if you must use this:

1. Watch the entire roasting process like a HAWK until you get the temp and timing figured out.
2. In my experience you won't get a first crack under 200C - assuming it's really 200C. I
3. Vent the hood/ tilt it- will help the chaff escape
4. Clean the lid when you are done- the chaff will stick to it and eventually it will become completely opaque and a real pain to clean
5. Pre warm it before putting the beans in- it is SLOW to change temps including to cool DOWN (say from 240 to 200C)- C, Celsius for those keeping track at home.

If the stirrer randomly stops or goes haywire, welcome the world of electronics that weren't heat insulated properly. I've noticed sometimes you can nudge the stirrer to get started up again. Yeah, real junk. It's like Fonzi hitting a television to fix reception.

We ordered this Coffee Roaster for $119.99 on March 16, 2020. We started using it to roast green coffee immediately. I always preheat it to 240 C. while I'm weighing out 16 ounces of green coffee. I have roasted once a week, sometimes twice a week until today September 16, 2020. Today I preheated and put my pound of coffee in, closed the lid and set my timer for 42 minutes. At 42 minutes I went to dump the the normally well roasted coffee into a baking sheet only to find that it was still green. The roaster was still warm but not hot like normal. I shut it off and let it cool down then I turned it back on at 240 C. After 15 minutes it was still cool to the touch. It has died.

This is an excellent coffee roaster machine. It is cheap comparable to other coffee roasters but It is absolutely good enough. One thing though, it doesn’t have a timer but that’s a small issue if you want to save a couple of hundred dollars. I’ve been coffee roasting for the last 20 years and I started with the popcorn popper and then roasted with the IRoaster for about 15 years. After my iroaster broke down -I tried popcorn popper but they didn’t last long. So -if you are at coffee roaster and a cheapskate like me, I highly recommend it.

There was a comment about adjusting the arms for small beans, but I didn't need to. The biggest issue was chaff; it has no chaff collector, but I found a really simple solution...air popcorn popper. After the beans are roasted and still warm (but cool enough to handled), I load a cup or so at a time into the popper, fire it up, give it a shake or two, and zero chaff. It takes 20-30 seconds per so plan on another 5 minutes or so after roasting.

I generally do about 400 grams to a City/Light-Medium Roast at 180degC, and use this coffee:

I have roasted about 7 batches of beans in this roaster so far, and I'm learning with each batch. The simplicity of this roaster is great, easy to load, easy to empty, easy to view the progress of the roasting. The instructions were not very good at all. It took some trial and error. Being my first time roasting coffee beans, the first couple of batches were under-done and undrinkable coffee. The time frames for the stages of roasting seem to be higher than that of drum roasters. I had to set the temperature up a few degrees more than it said to get to the first crack and then the second crack. Now that I think I have that figured out, it seems to work great.

I had to return it because it was roasting unevenly with many beans piled up and pushed around by
the rotating arm, It did roast some coffee beans, so it would be ok if one doesn’t mind losing some unroasted beans. I spent more and bought the Fresh Roast electric roasted.
